App Store Connect limits
The numbers you look up before every submission, on one page: how long the name, subtitle, keywords, promotional text and description can be, how many screenshots and previews you can upload, how many testers TestFlight takes, how big a build can be, and the limits on in-app purchases and offer codes. Each one links to the Apple page it comes from.
Every number below was read from the Apple page linked next to it on 2026-10-31. Apple changes these; the linked page is the final word.

Where the numbers come from
- •Each limit was copied from App Store Connect Help or Apple's developer pages, and the page is linked in the Source column, so you can confirm it in one click.
- •Where App Store Connect behaves differently from Apple's wording, the note says so. The keyword field is the main case: Apple writes 100 bytes, but in our experience App Store Connect counts characters, so a Chinese keyword field can hold 100 Chinese characters.
- •Rows with a Check it link go to a browser tool that tests your own text or files against the limit.
What this page does not cover
- •It does not list every limit. Numbers Apple does not state on a page, such as a total in-app purchase count per app, are left out rather than guessed.
- •Screenshot pixel sizes per device are on the screenshot sizes page, not here.
- •Limits change, usually with a new Xcode or OS release. The date at the top says when these were last checked.
Questions
- How many characters can an App Store app name and subtitle have?
- The app name must be 2 to 30 characters and the subtitle can be up to 30 characters, according to App Store Connect Help.
- Is the App Store keyword limit 100 characters or 100 bytes?
- Apple's help page says up to 100 bytes. In our experience App Store Connect counts characters: a Chinese keyword field of 100 characters, about 300 bytes in UTF-8, is accepted. Apple also says each keyword should be longer than two characters.
- How many screenshots and app previews can I upload?
- At least 1 and up to 10 screenshots per device size, and up to 3 app previews per device size and language. Previews are optional, 15 to 30 seconds long and up to 500 MB.
- How many TestFlight testers can I have?
- Up to 10,000 external testers and up to 100 internal testers, who are App Store Connect users with access to your content. Each build can be tested for 90 days.
- What is the maximum app size on the App Store?
- For iOS and iPadOS apps targeting iOS 9 or later, 4 GB uncompressed, with up to 500 MB for the executable's __TEXT sections. Mac apps can be up to 200 GB and watchOS apps 75 MB.
- How many custom product pages can an app have?
- Up to 70 custom product pages per app on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
- How long can an In-App Purchase product ID be?
- Up to 100 characters, using letters, numbers, hyphens, periods and underscores. The display name is 2 to 30 characters and the description up to 45.
