Open a ZIP file
Drop a .zip to see what is inside and save only the files you need, one by one, several together, or as a new ZIP. It is opened by your own browser and never uploaded. Password-protected ZIPs are not supported.
Drop a ZIP file here
Open a .zip, see what is inside and save only what you need. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
- •Drop your ZIP. The list shows every file, its unpacked size and date. Use the search box to find a name.
- •Press Download next to a file to save it, or tick several and save them as separate files or as a new ZIP that keeps the folders.
- •Each file is checked against its stored checksum when it is unpacked, and a damaged file is reported instead of being saved.
What it does and what it cannot do
- •Password-protected (encrypted) ZIPs are not supported: those files are listed and marked, but cannot be opened here. Use the tool that created them.
- •Only .zip. Other archives such as RAR, 7z, tar and tar.gz cannot be opened here.
- •Safety limits: archives larger than 2 GB, ones that would unpack to more than 2 GB or a single file over 1 GB, and ones with an extreme unpacking ratio (a typical zip bomb) are refused. A new ZIP from a selection can hold up to 500 MB.
- •Names with unsafe paths (such as ../ or absolute paths) are never saved. Other names are cleaned: folders are kept inside the new ZIP, separate files are saved by file name only.
- •Names written in older Chinese code pages are detected, but a name stored in an unusual code page may still show wrong characters.
Questions
- Is my ZIP uploaded?
- No. Your browser reads the ZIP and unpacks the files you choose inside this page.
- Why can't I open my password-protected ZIP?
- This tool does not support passwords or encryption. The files are listed so you can see the contents, but they cannot be unpacked here. Use the program that made the ZIP, or an archive tool that supports passwords.
- Why was my ZIP refused as too large or suspicious?
- A tiny ZIP can be built to expand to enormous size (a zip bomb) and crash a browser. Archives that would unpack to over 2 GB, or to many times their size, are refused to keep your device safe. Use a desktop archive tool for those.
- Can I save everything at once?
- Tick Select all, then save as separate files (your browser may ask to allow several downloads) or as a new ZIP, up to 500 MB.
- Why do some names look different after saving?
- Characters that Windows does not allow in file names (like : or ?) become an underscore, and unsafe paths are skipped. This keeps downloads from writing where they should not.
