SVG to PNG, JPEG and WebP converter

Drop SVG files or paste SVG code, choose a format and a size, and download the picture. It reads the size from the file, lets you scale it up to 4x or set exact pixels, and tells you when part of the SVG will not appear. The conversion happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Drop SVG files here

Up to 20 files, 5 MB each. Nothing is uploaded: the SVG is drawn by your browser as a picture.

  • sample.svg

SVG size: 120 × 80 px · The file gives no width and height, so the viewBox size is used.

    Converting…

Safety: the SVG is only ever loaded as a picture, the way an image on a web page is. Scripts inside it do not run and nothing it points to is fetched.

Limits: 20 files at a time, 5 MB each, up to 16,384 px per side and 100 megapixels per image.

How it works

  • •Your browser loads the SVG as a picture, the same way it shows an image on a web page, then draws it onto a canvas at the size you chose and saves that canvas. The SVG is never inserted into this page, so scripts inside it do not run and nothing it points to is fetched.
  • •The size comes from the width and height of the file. Units are converted at 96 pixels per inch: 1 in = 96 px, 72 pt = 96 px, 25.4 mm = 96 px, 1 pc = 16 px. If the file gives no width and height, or gives percentages, the size of its viewBox is used. If it has neither, you are asked to type a size.
  • •Scale 2x means twice the SVG's own size in each direction. An exact size can keep the proportions (the other side follows) or stretch the picture to fill the width and height you typed.
  • •PNG and WebP keep a transparent background if you leave it transparent. JPEG cannot be transparent, so it is filled with white unless you pick another colour.
  • •Pictures are limited to 16,384 pixels per side and 100 megapixels, and files to 5 MB and 20 at a time. Very large canvases can make a browser fail without a clear error, so the page stops first and says why.

Questions

Why is part of my picture missing?
A picture drawn from a file cannot load anything from the web or from neighbouring files. Images, fonts and stylesheets that the SVG links to are skipped, and the page warns you when it finds such a link. Embed them in the SVG (for example as a data: address) and convert again.
Why does my text look like a different font?
Text uses the fonts installed on your device. A web font that the SVG loads from the internet is not available when the SVG is drawn as a picture. Converting the text to outlines in your design app before exporting the SVG avoids this.
Which format should I pick?
PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, so it suits logos and icons. JPEG is smaller for photographs but has no transparency. WebP can keep transparency and can be smaller than PNG, but whether your browser can save it depends on the browser, and the page tells you if it cannot.
Is my SVG uploaded or safe to open?
Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser and the files stay on your device. The SVG is only drawn as a picture, which does not run its scripts. Files that declare XML entities are refused.
