Split a PDF or extract pages
Type the pages you want, such as 1-3,7,10-12, and get them as a new PDF. Or cut the whole document into one file per page, or every few pages, and download the pieces as a ZIP. Your file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.
Drop a PDF here
One PDF at a time. Nothing is uploaded. Nothing is uploaded: your files are opened and saved inside this page.
How to split
- •Drop one PDF. The page count appears straight away.
- •Pick a way: choose pages into one file, each range as its own file, one file per page, or a new file every N pages.
- •For page choices, type numbers and ranges. The tool tells you exactly what is wrong if a page does not exist.
- •Press Split. One result downloads as a PDF; several results come together in a ZIP.
What this tool does
- •Page choices like 1-3,7,10-12, and 5- for page 5 to the end. Pages come out in the order you type them.
- •Up to about 200 MB per PDF, with progress while the files are built.
- •Pages are copied as they are, so quality does not change. Page rotation is kept.
- •Many files are delivered as one ZIP, named by page numbers (for example report-pages-01-04.pdf).
What we can't do
- •It does not edit the text or pictures inside a page. It only moves whole pages around.
- •It does not read scanned pages (no OCR), so scans stay as pictures.
- •It cannot open password-protected PDFs. Unlock the file in a PDF viewer first; this tool never tries to break a password.
- •It shows no page thumbnails, because no page renderer is built in. Pages are identified by number, paper size and direction.
- •Forms, bookmarks and links that point to other pages are not guaranteed to survive. The page content itself does.
Questions
- Is my PDF uploaded?
- No. The file is opened and cut inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
- How do I write the pages?
- Use numbers and dashes separated by commas: 1-3,7,10-12 gives pages 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 11 and 12. 5- means page 5 to the end. Pages are numbered from 1 as in your PDF viewer.
- Will splitting reduce quality?
- No. Pages are copied into the new files as they are, without re-rendering or re-compressing.
- What is the difference between the four ways?
- Pick pages into one file collects everything you typed into a single PDF. Each range as its own file turns every comma item into a separate PDF. One file per page and every N pages cut up the whole document for you.
- Why is a piece not much smaller than the original?
- Fonts and images used by a page travel with it. If many pages share the same large image or font, each piece has to carry its own copy, so pieces can be bigger than you expect.
- Can I split a password-protected PDF?
- Not directly. This tool cannot open locked PDFs and does not try to get around the password. Open it in a PDF viewer with the password, save a copy without one, and use that copy.
