Passport photo cropper and print sheet

Pick the document size, drag and zoom your photo into the frame, and download the photo at the exact pixel size plus a sheet of copies to print at home or at a photo counter. Your photo is processed in this page and never uploaded.

Output: 413 × 531 px at 300 dpi

8 copies fit (4 × 2).

0 mm fits the most copies but needs a borderless print at actual size. If your printer always leaves a white border, choose 3 or 5 mm.

Choose a photo to see the crop frame. The sizes above update as you pick options.

This tool only sets the size and crop. It does not check lighting, expression, glasses, background or anything else, and it cannot tell you whether a photo will be accepted. Check the current requirements of the issuing authority before printing.

How it works

  • •Your browser opens the photo and turns it upright using the rotation saved by the camera. Nothing is sent anywhere.
  • •The crop frame has the shape of the size you picked, so the result can never be stretched. Without "Allow empty space", the photo always covers the whole frame.
  • •Pixel sizes are worked out at 300 dots per inch: millimetres ÷ 25.4 × 300, rounded. A 2 × 2 in photo becomes 600 × 600 px and a 35 × 45 mm photo becomes 413 × 531 px.
  • •The print sheet fits as many copies as possible, turning the paper sideways when that fits more. Copies touch, so one cut separates two of them, and thin grey lines show where to cut.
  • •Browsers save JPEG files without a print size, so many programs assume 72 or 96 dpi and print them far too large. This page writes 300 dpi into the file header (the JFIF density field) without touching the picture.
  • •For the US 2 × 2 in size the face guide shows the head height our guide quotes (1 to 1⅜ in, chin to top of hair). For the other sizes it is a plain oval for lining up your face, not a rule.

Questions

Will my photo be accepted?
This page cannot tell you. It only sets the size and the crop. Lighting, expression, glasses, background, recency and editing rules are up to you, and the issuing authority decides. Check its current requirements before printing.
Why does my print come out the wrong size?
Usually the print dialog is scaling it. Choose 100% or "actual size", turn off "fit to page" and automatic photo cropping, and pick the paper size that matches the sheet. Measure one printed photo with a ruler before cutting.
Can it remove or change the background?
No. It does not cut you out or retouch anything. The fill colour only covers empty space you create by zooming out or moving past the edge of the photo. Some authorities require the original, unedited background.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is opened, cropped and saved by code running in this page. The files are created on your device, and nothing is sent to a server.
