What is my IP address?

Your public IP address is shown above the fold, with the country, city, network provider, time zone and connection details the network can see. Below it, the details your browser tells every website. The address is read from this one request and never stored.

What your browser reveals

Every website you visit can read these values. They are read in this page; nothing here is sent anywhere.

User-agent

Privacy: your IP address is read from this one request, shown to you and then forgotten. Nothing is stored, logged or shared, and the answer is never cached.

How it works

  • •When the page opens it asks this site's own address service, which reads the IP from your request and what Cloudflare knows about it. No third-party lookup is used.
  • •The network section shows the protocol (IPv4 or IPv6), country, city, time zone, network provider and number (ASN), and the HTTP and TLS versions of your connection. Fields that are unknown are simply left out.
  • •The browser section is read on your device: language, time zone, screen, processor threads and more. If the network and browser time zones differ, you may be on a VPN or proxy.

What it does and what it cannot do

  • •Location is estimated from the provider's registration data and is often only right to the region. On mobile networks and VPNs it can be in another city or country.
  • •You see the address that websites see. Behind a VPN, a proxy or a company network that is the exit address, not your device's.
  • •A home router, a phone or a CGNAT carrier can share one public address between many people. An IP does not identify a person.
  • •The page shows the address of the connection used for this request. A device with both IPv4 and IPv6 may show either one depending on the network.

Questions

What is a public IP address?
The address that websites see when you connect, assigned by your internet provider or VPN. Your devices at home have private addresses (like 192.168.1.20) that only work inside your network.
Why does my location look wrong?
IP location comes from provider registration data, not from your device. It often shows the provider's hub city. Browser location (with your permission) or GPS is far more accurate.
Is my IP address stored?
No. This site reads it for the one request, shows it to you and forgets it. The answer is sent with no-store cache headers, and nothing is logged by this tool.
What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
IPv4 addresses look like 203.0.113.9 and are running out; IPv6 addresses look like 2001:db8::1 and are practically unlimited. Many connections now have both.
How do I hide or change my IP address?
Use a VPN or a proxy, or switch networks (for example from Wi-Fi to mobile data). Restarting a router sometimes gives a new address, depending on your provider.
