LoopSnap Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the LoopSnap iOS app ("the App"). By installing or using the App you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

We've tried to keep these terms short and in plain language. Where Apple's standard App Store terms apply (which they always do for any iOS app), we point to them rather than restate them.

1. Who runs LoopSnap

LoopSnap is built and maintained by a small independent team. Contact: obeliskclubclub@gmail.com.

The legal entity behind the App will be named in this section before the 1.0 public release; until then, the App is shipped under the developer's individual Apple Developer account.

2. What the App does

LoopSnap converts photos and videos you select from your device's Photos library into animated files (GIF, animated WebP, MP4) sized to fit the rules of the chat or messaging platform you're sending them to. All of this happens locally on your device — see the [Privacy Policy](PRIVACY-en.md) for details.

The App does not:

  • Host, store, or distribute your content
  • Send your content to other users
  • Connect to any server we operate

The chat platforms you ultimately send your exports to (WhatsApp, WeChat, iMessage, Telegram, etc.) have their own terms; those are between you and them, not us.

3. Your responsibility for content

You are solely responsible for what you create with the App and what you send through it to other people.

You agree not to use the App to create or send content that:

  • You do not have the right to use (e.g., copyrighted images that
    are not yours and that you have no licence to repurpose)
  • Depicts non-consenting individuals in a sexual context, depicts
    minors in any sexual context, or violates child-protection law
  • Constitutes harassment, threats, or doxxing of an individual
  • Violates the laws of your jurisdiction or the jurisdiction of any
    recipient

We do not pre-screen or moderate content created with the App, because the App does not transmit your content. If we become aware of misuse (for example, through an authority's lawful request), we will cooperate with the relevant authority as legally required.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App's source
    code beyond what Apple's macOS / iOS End User Licence Agreement permits for personal interoperability
  • Strip, alter, or attempt to circumvent the watermark applied to
    free-tier exports by means other than purchasing LoopSnap Pro
  • Use automation, scripting, or unauthorised tooling to bypass the
    source-clip-duration cap or the In-App Purchase entitlement check
  • Distribute modified versions of the App
  • Use the App in a manner that would violate Apple's App Store
    Terms of Service

These restrictions exist to keep the App's economics sustainable for a small independent team. If you have a legitimate research, audit, or accessibility need that one of the above would block, write to the contact in §1 and we'll work something out.

5. LoopSnap Pro (In-App Purchase)

LoopSnap Pro is a non-consumable, one-time In-App Purchase at $7.99 USD (or local-currency equivalent). It unlocks:

  • Removal of the small "loopsnap" watermark on free-tier exports
  • Extension of the source-clip duration cap from 3 seconds to 10
    seconds
  • All future free updates of the App

LoopSnap Pro is not a subscription. It is not auto-renewing. There is no trial period that converts to a charge.

Family Sharing is currently disabled for the LoopSnap Pro purchase. This may change in a future release; if it does, the change will be announced in the App Store "What's New" text.

5.1 Restoring your purchase

If you reinstall LoopSnap or move to a new device, your Pro purchase is restored via the "Restore Purchase" button on the paywall. The restore goes through Apple's StoreKit infrastructure — we do not see or store your Apple ID.

5.2 Refunds

All refunds for In-App Purchases are processed by Apple, not by us. Use Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions / Purchase History → Report a Problem on your device, or visit reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple typically reviews refund requests within 48 hours and applies their own refund policy.

If Apple denies a refund and you believe you have a legitimate grievance with the App itself (e.g., the Pro entitlement does not unlock despite a confirmed purchase), email us at the contact in §1 and we'll help diagnose and, where appropriate, escalate via Apple.

5.3 Future changes to Pro

We may, in future releases, change what Pro includes. The minimum guarantee for purchases made under these terms is that:

1. The watermark removal will remain available, and 2. The 10-second source-clip cap will remain available

If we add new features to the App that we elect to gate behind a separate purchase or subscription (which we have no plans to do as of this writing), an existing Pro purchase will not be retroactively required for those new features — but new features may not be free for new users.

6. No warranty

The App is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • We make no warranty that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free,
    or compatible with future iOS versions
  • We make no warranty that exported files will be accepted by any
    particular chat platform — those platforms change their rules frequently and we update the destination matrix on a best-effort basis
  • We make no warranty regarding the fitness of the App for any
    particular purpose beyond what is described in the App Store listing

To the extent any warranty cannot be disclaimed under your local law, this clause is limited to what that law allows.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the App, the In-App Purchase, or these terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid for LoopSnap Pro, or (b) US$10.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, loss of profits, loss of business, or similar losses, even if foreseeable.

Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law — for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or liability for fraud.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms — for example, to add a corporate legal entity name in §1, to update Apple's refund-process URL in §5.2, or to reflect a substantive change to the App. When we do:

  • The "Last updated" date at the top of this document will change
  • For substantive changes (anything that meaningfully alters your
    rights or obligations), we will note the change in the App Store "What's New" text and surface a notice the first time you launch the new version

Past versions of these terms are visible in the repository at LEGAL/TERMS-en.md (git history).

9. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Your Pro entitlement, if any, remains tied to your Apple ID and is restored via §5.1 if you reinstall.

We may suspend the App's availability — for example, if Apple removes it from the App Store, or if we cease development. In that case:

  • Existing installations continue to function on supported iOS
    versions for as long as Apple permits
  • We are not obligated to refund any portion of a Pro purchase; refund
    rights remain governed by Apple's standard process (§5.2)

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where the developer entity (§1) is established, without regard to conflict-of- laws principles. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction whose consumer-protection laws grant rights that cannot be waived by contract — for example, the EU, the UK, or Australia — those rights apply to you regardless of this section.

We prefer to resolve disputes informally. Before filing any claim, please email the contact in §1 and give us 30 days to respond.

11. Severability

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect.
