CiteWeave

Trace citations offline

About

CiteWeave lets researchers, students, and citation-obsessed readers trace a paper's citation graph starting from nothing but its DOI. Paste a DOI from any Crossref-indexed source and CiteWeave fetches the paper's metadata and reference list, then lets you expand outward hop by hop to see what those papers cite in turn — a real citation network, built entirely on your device.

No account, no server, no tracking: every lookup runs directly against the public Crossref API and is cached locally so you can revisit your research offline.

FEATURES

  • Instant DOI lookup — title, authors, journal, year, and reference count in one screen
  • Multi-hop citation graph — expand references outward and browse the network as a visual node map
  • Personal library — every paper you look up is saved automatically; search and revisit your research history
  • Export as BibTeX or RIS — drop straight into your reference manager
  • Fully offline after first fetch — cached results work without a connection
  • Light and dark Liquid Glass design with full Dynamic Type and VoiceOver support

Included: unlimited single-DOI lookups, first-hop references, and a library of up to 10 papers. Pro unlock: multi-hop graph expansion, unlimited library, and BibTeX/RIS export — a one-time purchase, no subscription.
