About this app

The developer's US App Store description, in full.

Divina Commedia: Il Cammino takes you on a journey with Dante Alighieri through one of the most iconic and influential works ever written. Explore Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso step by step, with content designed to help you understand, remember, and experience the poem in a more visual and interactive way. The app is free to download and includes initial free content. Access to most of the journey, cantos, images, quizzes, paraphrases, and synopses requires a separate in-app purchase. Inside the app, you will find: 568 original images inspired by Botticelli’s painting style, created to visually tell Dante’s journey through the three realms. 6,495 quizzes to test yourself and memorize key concepts at the end of each step, canto, and cantica. Paraphrases and synopses to help you follow the text and understand its meaning. Who you meet, and how they were read back then. Every canto carries cards for the figures who appear in it: who they were in history, what they do in the poem, why Dante places them there. And, where one exists, the voice of a fourteenth-century commentator — the Anonimo Fiorentino, Francesco da Buti — quoted from the edition and rendered into plain English. Where you are. For each stretch of the journey, what was happening in the world while the poem tells it, and the questions seven centuries of readers have not closed: who the greyhound is, who made the great refusal, what hides beneath the veil of the verses. Content also available in English, making the Divine Comedy easier to study, revisit, and explore in more than one language. A narrative, visual, and educational journey designed to bring the Divine Comedy closer with clarity, rhythm, and depth.
