About this app

The developer's US App Store description, in full.

AstroSky astronomy weather tells you whether tonight is worth setting up the telescope. It turns clouds, estimated seeing, transparency, twilight, and moonlight into one Imaging Quality Score for the place you observe from. Open the app, check the score, and see the best window before you load the car. TONIGHT • Imaging Quality Score from 0 to 100, with the best stretch of the night • Hour-by-hour clouds (low, mid, and high), seeing, temperature, dew point, and wind • Astronomical darkness, moon phase, moonrise and moonset • Deep-sky targets and how high they climb • A rig picker so dew warnings match a closed-tube scope THIS WEEK • Every night scored, so you can pick the clearest one • Best seeing and the hours that stay above your threshold MODELS • ECMWF, GFS, and a regional model for your site, shown side by side • A confidence read when the models agree, and a warning when they do not SITES • Save home, a dark site, or anywhere you search • Set the Bortle class so sky brightness and limiting magnitude match that sky • Use your current location, or skip location and search for a place ALERTS • Local notifications for a clear window, dew, incoming high clouds, and model disagreement • Quiet hours, so a good forecast does not wake you at the wrong time Seeing is estimated on your iPhone from the jet stream, wind shear, and ground wind. It is a planning guide, not a measured seeing forecast. Forecast data comes from Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0), including ECMWF, GFS, regional models, and Copernicus CAMS aerosols. Sun, moon, and target altitudes are calculated on the device. AstroSky is free. There is no account, no ads, and no subscription. Location is used only when you add the place you are standing, and only to forecast that site.
