About this app

The developer's US App Store description, in full.

Should you go outside and look up tonight? Star Tonight answers with one number. Enter your town and tonight's cloud cover, moon, darkness, light pollution and transparency roll into a score from 0 to 100, a straight answer (YES, MAYBE, NO), and the best hour to be outside. What you get: • Tonight's verdict, hour by hour through the night (scored until 3am, or all the way to dawn if you're a night owl) • The best window to go out, so you're not standing in the cold at the wrong time • A 7-night outlook to plan the good nights • Moon phase, rise and set, and how much of the night it's up • Meteor shower calendar with peak-night reminders (Perseids, Geminids, Orionids and more) • Aurora watch from NOAA space-weather forecasts • Which planets are up, where to look, and when • A light-pollution setting so a city sky and a dark-sky park get honest scores • Red-light mode to protect your night vision • A share card for the group chat: "YES for stars in Hartford tonight, 84/100" No accounts. No ads. No tracking. Astronomy is calculated on your phone; weather comes from Apple Weather and space weather from NOAA. Built in Connecticut by a guy who got tired of driving out to the lake on a cloudy night.
