About this app

The developer's US App Store description, in full.

Your Mac has just one volume slider. SoundLeveler gives every app its own. Keep music quiet while you’re in a call. Mute a website that won’t stop autoplaying. Play Spotify on your headphones while Safari stays on the speakers. SoundLeveler lives in the menu bar and stays out of the way until you need it. PER-APP VOLUME • A separate volume slider for every app that’s playing sound • Mute any app with one click • Live level meters show which app is making noise • Sound from helper processes is grouped under the app you know. Browser tabs appear as the browser. MUTE EVERYTHING BUT THIS • One click silences every other app, so you can focus on a call, a video or a song • Apps that start playing later are silenced too • Click again to bring everything back PER-APP OUTPUT • Send each app to a different output: speakers, headphones, AirPlay, a USB interface or a display • If a device is disconnected, the app falls back to the system output and returns automatically when the device reconnects SYSTEM SOUNDS • Turn down alerts, screenshot sounds and other macOS sounds on their own, without touching your music A MIXER WINDOW • A full mixer with vertical faders, like the one on Windows • Change the system volume and default output from the same place • Saved settings for apps that aren’t playing right now stay editable REMEMBERS YOUR SETTINGS • Volume, mute and output are saved for each app and applied as soon as it plays again • Optionally open SoundLeveler at login so your settings apply after every restart LIGHTWEIGHT AND PRIVATE • Apps you haven’t changed aren’t touched at all • When nothing is playing, SoundLeveler does no audio work and doesn’t keep your Mac awake • Audio is processed in real time on your Mac. It is never recorded, stored or sent anywhere. • No accounts, no analytics, no data collection GOOD TO KNOW • SoundLeveler needs the System Audio Recording permission to adjust an app’s sound. macOS asks for it the first time you use it. • While SoundLeveler is adjusting audio, macOS shows its recording indicator in the menu bar. This is how macOS tells you an app is working with audio, and it goes away when nothing is playing. • Apps whose volume you’ve changed get a small amount of extra latency. That can be noticeable in live music software. • Requires macOS 14.2 or later.
