About this app

The developer's US App Store description, in full.

Your child draws a lion. The lion walks into the zoo. Doodle Zoo is a drawing game for iPad where everything — the animals, the food they eat, the fences, the signposts, the people wandering about — is something your child drew with their own hand. Nothing is picked from a menu. They draw it, and it comes alive. A PROMISE TO PARENTS No in-app purchases. Not one. Nothing in Doodle Zoo costs real money, there is no "unlock the rest" and no currency to top up. The Zoo Bucks children earn are pretend money that only exists inside their own zoo — they can't be bought, and they can't run out in a way that needs your credit card. HOW IT WORKS Draw a pen, and it becomes a home for an animal. Draw a path, and visitors walk along it. Draw a lion, and he moves in, gets hungry, makes friends, and needs looking after. Children earn Zoo Bucks by running their zoo — selling tickets, serving ice creams in the snack bar, filling the gift shop, doing the jobs that need doing. They spend them on more land, more animals, an underground aquarium, lamp posts for the paths. It's a proper little world, and they built every bit of it. EIGHT GAMES IN THE REST AREA Draw a bench or a play area and the rest area opens up: - Animal word hunt — find your own animals' names hidden in a grid of letters - Spell it round — drag through the letters to spell an animal's name - Mixed-up name — the letters are jumbled, which animal is it? - First sounds — find the animals beginning with a letter - Family names — a pride of lions, a troop of monkeys... what are they called? - Zoo jigsaw — made from a picture your child drew - Memory pairs and a sliding puzzle, both using their own drawings - Circuit puzzle — turn the wires to get the lamps working again Most can be played from the pictures alone, so a child who can't read yet is never stuck. No adverts. None at all. No banners, no pop-ups, no "watch a video to carry on", no videos for other games. No account, no sign-in, no internet. Doodle Zoo has no networking of any kind. It cannot send anything anywhere, which means your child's drawings, recordings and photos never leave your iPad. Nothing collected, nobody tracked. No analytics, no advertising identifiers, no third-party code at all. Buy it once. It's yours. WHAT'S INSIDE - Over 100 animals to draw, from lions to leafy sea dragons - An underground aquarium to dig out, with tanks and terrariums - A photo booth — put your own face in a picture you drew - Record your own roar for the lion you made - A day and night cycle, with lamp posts and a circuit to mend - Visitors who queue, buy tickets, eat ice creams and drop litter - An album holding everything your child has ever drawn - A complete illustrated "How to play" guide inside the app - Read-aloud for children who can't read yet - Separate volume for music, sound effects, the voice and animal noises MADE FOR LITTLE HANDS Doodle Zoo is built for children of about five to eight. Big buttons, few words, pictures instead of menus, and a gentle guide that walks them through their first zoo. Each child in the family can have their own zoo, with their own drawings and their own animals. Nothing is ever thrown away by accident — the app asks first, and shows the drawing it's about to rub out. iPad only. Landscape. iPadOS 17 or later.
