About this app

The developer's US App Store description, in full.

SoundDial gives every app on your Mac its own volume slider — right in the menu bar. Turn Spotify down while you're on a Zoom call. Boost a quiet YouTube video in Chrome to 200%. Mute Slack for an hour of focus. The system volume stays exactly where it is. WHAT YOU CAN DO • Per-app volume from 0% to 200% — boost apps that are too quiet, with live level meters • Works with every app — Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Spotify, Music, Zoom, Discord and Electron apps; helper processes are grouped under the app they belong to • Per-app equalizer — 10 bands and 11 presets: Bass Boost, Bass Cut, Treble Boost, Vocal, Podcast, Loudness, Late Night, Rock, Electronic, Acoustic and Flat • Balance — move any app to the left or right • Per-app output — play music on your USB DAC while calls stay on your headphones, all at the same time • Auto-ducking — when a call starts in Zoom, Microsoft Teams, FaceTime, Webex, Slack, Discord, Skype, WhatsApp, Telegram or a browser call (Google Meet, Teams on the web), other apps get quieter, and they come back when the call ends. You choose how much. • Volume profiles — save your whole mix (volume, mute, EQ, balance) as Work, Gaming, Late Night or anything you like and switch with one click • Made for DACs and audio interfaces — switch output devices, see and change the sample rate, and get a software volume for devices without their own volume control • Keyboard shortcuts — Control-Option-S opens SoundDial, Control-Option-M mutes all apps; both customizable • Shortcuts app and automation — actions to set an app's volume, mute apps, apply a profile or choose an output device, plus sounddial:// links for Raycast, Alfred, Stream Deck and scripts • Guided setup — walks you through the one macOS permission and confirms that everything really works • Your menu bar, your way — choose the icon, show app icons and percentages, sort the list, keep favorite apps pinned, show SoundDial in the Dock or not, launch at login • Remembers your settings — per-app volumes and effects stay after restarts • Available in 34 languages, with a Liquid Glass design on macOS Tahoe PRIVATE BY DESIGN SoundDial processes audio on your Mac in real time. Nothing is recorded or stored, and nothing leaves your Mac: no account, no analytics, no tracking, no internet connection. PERFECT FOR • Remote work: calls, music and notifications at the right level • Podcasters and streamers who need precise levels • Audiophiles with USB DACs and audio interfaces • Anyone tired of one system volume controlling everything Requires macOS 14.2 or later. SoundDial needs the "System Audio Recording Only" permission to change other apps' volume; the guided setup explains each step.
