About this app

The developer's US App Store description, in full.

Sentinel Bar puts the tech news you care about one click away in your macOS menu bar. Instead of cycling through Hacker News, GitHub Trending, Lobsters, Dev.to, daily.dev, Techmeme, and InfoQ every morning, Sentinel Bar aggregates all seven sources into a single feed — updated every 5 minutes, consumed in seconds. HOW IT WORKS Sentinel Bar connects to the Sentinel Feed intelligence platform, which fetches stories from 7 developer news sources every 15 minutes. Stories are deduplicated, ranked by community score, auto-categorized into 6 topic sectors, and optionally enriched with AI-generated summaries. FEATURES - Menu bar icon with live critical alert count - Native feed with story cards, source badges, summaries, and scores - Critical alerts section — CVEs, vulnerabilities, zero-days, and breaches are auto-detected and shown first - Embedded web dashboard tab with the full radar/map visualization - Background polling every 5 minutes — always fresh, never stale - Native macOS notifications for new security-critical stories - One-click to open any story in your browser - Dark theme with monospaced typography TOPIC SECTORS Stories are automatically classified into six categories: - Security — CVEs, vulnerabilities, breaches, malware - AI / ML — LLMs, models, training, OpenAI, Anthropic - Systems — Compilers, kernels, databases, hardware - Dev — Languages, frameworks, libraries, web - Tools — DevOps, CI/CD, cloud, infrastructure - General — Everything else SOURCES - Hacker News — top stories ranked by upvotes - GitHub Trending — trending repos in TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust - Lobsters — top stories from the developer community - Dev.to — top articles of the day - daily.dev — most upvoted developer posts - Techmeme — curated tech industry news - InfoQ — software engineering articles BUILT FOR DEVELOPERS Sentinel Bar is a native Swift app — no Electron, no web wrapper for the feed. Under 5 MB, minimal memory footprint, instant launch. The embedded dashboard tab uses a lightweight WebView for the full radar visualization. Powered by Sentinel Feed (sentinel-feed.pastelero.ph), an open-source tech intelligence platform.
