# Stud Finder App Description **Find likely mounting zones with confidence, not guesswork.** Stud Finder uses your iPhone's built-in magnetometer to measure magnetic field changes that may indicate magnetic metal behind drywall. It provides live signal estimates to help you identify possible wall mounting areas. No extra hardware required. Open the app, calibrate on a low-signal area, then scan slowly along the wall while monitoring real-time feedback. Built for everyday DIY tasks like mounting TVs, shelves, mirrors, and frames. Performance varies based on wall material, phone model, phone case, and nearby interference. ## Features - Real-time 270-degree magnetic signal gauge with color-based intensity - Clear **METAL SIGNAL** indicator at higher signal levels - Adjustable sensitivity for different wall conditions - Manual calibration for a more stable baseline - Audio tone feedback that changes with signal intensity - Haptic feedback that scales with signal strength - 30-second signal history graph to help verify peaks - Built-in onboarding and practical scanning tips - Offline use, with no additional hardware ## Common Use Cases - Locate likely anchor points before mounting a TV bracket - Plan shelf or cabinet placement - Hang mirrors, art, and picture frames - Check spacing patterns during layout planning - Re-scan and confirm areas during installation ## How It Works Stud Finder measures changes in magnetic fields and highlights likely signal peaks behind the wall surface. It detects magnetic metal signals only. It does **not** detect wood studs directly and does not guarantee stud location. ## Important Safety Notice Stud Finder is **not** a safety device. It cannot detect electrical wiring, plumbing, or gas lines and must not be used for safety-critical decisions. Always verify with additional tools and methods before drilling, cutting, or mounting.
